University of Atlanta is bringing out the emotional side of everyone on this Mother’s Day

This Mother’s Day, University of Atlanta is celebrating it to the fullest, it’s not just about presenting your mom that kitchen appliance that she always wanted or breakfast in bed, its right from the heart through words, giving you a chance to come out and say those things for your mom that you always felt but never expressed. Things never last, but memories live forever.

“When your mother asks, “Do you want a piece of advice?” it’s a mere formality. It doesn’t matter if you answer yes or no. You’re going to get it anyway.”

― Erma Bombeck

On 10th of May, UofA is celebrating Mother’s day to admire and give tribute to mothers all over the world, recognizing the struggles and contributions she makes each day for their children and family. Mothers are like Queen Bees, Who live to give their child the best food and shelter with love and care. UofA asked their student to share their feeling about their moms.

A letter to my mother:

Dear Mom, at the breakfast table today, you told me all you want for Mother’s day is to spend some time with you. This wasn’t the first time she said those words to me, but today I realized something. It took me 20 years to realize it that , you were chosen to be my mother for a reason , Nobody in the world could handle the emotional monster in me, you love and care has taught me so much in the past couple of years .  Through this letter, I want to let you know that Mom, You’re the best!!

Student of University of Atlanta

The second Mother’s Day message was also from a student; her words were as overwhelming as a mother’s hug.

“I haven’t seen my mother for the past seven years, but she always there with me, Whenever I want to talk to her I close my eyes and she’ is there with me, listening to every word I say., she’s always in front of my eyes. I want her to just laze in her lap and tell her how much I need her and talk to her all night long, then fall asleep in her warm lap. I still remember how we used to talk all night long, and then she tucked me in. I love you, mom, I miss you with all my heart”

Let’s give all we have to our mother on this day. However they are, wherever they are, alive or dead, they can never escape away from our spirit and mind. The ultimate prize that we can and should give to our mothers on Mother’s Day is to make a resolution to elevate ourselves not merely as great personalities but as good persons.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there, from University of Atlanta! To cherish this day with us follow us on Facebook , Googleplus , Pinterest and Twitter.

Four Tips for a Greener Lifestyle- University of Atlanta Explore, Educate and Evolve

University of Atlanta not only teaches students to become more responsible but also help them discover hidden realities and make them become a polished individual. With University of Atlanta Explore, Educate and Evolve campaign we aim to explore more, educate more and evolve more.

Individual action in one’s community or region is key to reducing all kinds of air quality problems — from neighborhood smoke to global atmospheric degradation. Each one of us plays a part in polluting the air. Equally, there’s so much we can do to become part of the environmental solution.

Hints for Green Lifestyle

Avoid garden tools that run on gasoline

The engine in a gas-powered lawn mower produces eight times the pollution that a car engine does. The best option is human energy: push a hand mower, and use a rake instead of a leaf blower. Your neighbors will appreciate the peace and quiet, and your body will get a free workout!

Buy products with less packaging

It takes a lot of energy to make packaging, and VOCs are generated during the printing process. More packaging also means more solid waste, putting an extra strain on our landfills.

Screen savers use energy

Make sure your computer automatically switches to sleep mode and turn your monitors off if you can.

Check your walls for cracks

Check for holes or cracks around your walls, ceilings, windows, doors, lights and plumbing fixtures, switches, and electrical outlets that can leak air into or out of your home. Caulk and insulate everywhere.

Things You Can Do To Stop Global Warming – University of Atlanta Explore, Educate and Evolve Campaign

It’s our duty to take care of Mother Nature and play our part in making this world a better place. University of Atlanta Explore, Educate and Evolve Campaign is determined to bring a change by exploring causes behind Global Warming. We invite you to join this campaign by rightly committing to your duty. Every day we are doing things not knowing how badly it is damaging Mother Earth. We ask you to stand up for what’s right and join us for a noble cause.

What is Global Warming?

Global Warming is the increase in Earth’s average surface temperature due to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth. This is a type of greenhouse effect.

What Can We Do to Stop Global Warming?

Global Warming is an intensely urgent and serious problem. We don’t need to wait for governments to find a solution to this problem: each individual can bring a significant help adopting a more responsible lifestyle: starting from small, everyday things. It’s the only reasonable way to save our planet before it is too late.

Clean filters on your furnace and air conditioner

Did you know that cleaning a dirty air filter can save 350 pounds of carbon dioxide a year?

Do not leave machines on standby

Use the “on/off” function on the machine itself. A TV set that’s switched on for 3 hours a day and in standby mode during the remaining 21 hours uses about 40% of its power in standby mode.

Cover your pots while cooking

Doing so can save a lot of the energy needed for preparing the dish. Even better are pressure cookers and steamers: they can save around 70%!

Take a shower instead of a bath

A shower takes up to four times less energy than a bath. To make the most of the energy saving, avoid power showers and use low-flow showerheads, which are less costly and provide the same comfort.

Use a clothesline instead of a dryer whenever possible

Do you know that you can actually save 700 pounds of carbon dioxide when you air dry your clothes for 6 months out of the year?

Plant a tree

A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. Shade provided by trees can also reduce your air conditioning bill by 10 to 15%.

Reduce, Reuse & Recycle with University of Atlanta Explore, Educate and Evolve Campaign

Our land is our treasure and to save it from hazards is our social responsibility. We want you to make smart choices and save the mother earth. The message of Reduce, Reuse & Recycle, is to eliminate problems such as global warming and deforestation. With University of Atlanta Explore, Educate and Evolve Campaign, follow these 3R’s and help create a better world.

Blog

Let’s learn how to make these three R’s work:

REDUCE

The best way to manage waste is to not produce it. This can be done by shopping carefully and being aware of a few guidelines:

Tips that can help you contribute.

  • Buy products in bulk, avoid over-packaged goods, especially ones packed with several materials such as foil, paper, and plastic.
  • Make sure that you always purchase durable goods – ones that are well-built or that which carry warranties.

REUSE

It makes economic and environmental sense to reuse products. Sometimes it takes creativity.

  • One can save paper and plastic bags, repair broken appliances, toys and furniture.
  • Use resealable containers rather than plastic wraps. Use ceramic coffee mug instead of paper cups.

RECYCLE

The process of recycling means to make a new product out of an old product. You can contribute by:

  • Purchase goods made from recycled material. Look for the recycling symbol or ask store managers or salesmen.
  • Check collection centers and curbside pickup services to see what they accept, and begin collecting those materials.

The Earth Day

The first Earth day was celebrated in 1970. Nelson, after seeing the damage done by a 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California, was encouraged to organize a national “teach-in” that was dedicated to educating the public about the environment.

Political impact

Though Earth Day may now be symbolized with small-scale tree planting and volunteer cleanup projects, the first Earth Day actually had its sights set on bigger political projects. Earth Day protests created public support for the formation of the Environmental Protection Agency, authorized by Congress in December 1970. Earth Day also added to the causes such as clean water, clean air and protection of endangered species acts.

Just a Little Something about the High Museum of Art in Atlanta – University of Atlanta Explore, Educate and Evolve Campaign

Atlanta is known for is unique history; it is the powerhouse of higher education and the city which rose from the ashes. There’s so much more that we still need to explore about the city of Atlanta. University of Atlanta Explore, Educate and Evolve Campaign envisions to discover and spread it among those who wish to learn.

We know that Atlanta is known for its beautiful architecture which makes every building a tourist attraction. The High Museum of Art in Midtown frames a fundamental node of cultural activity for the Arts District of Atlanta.

Blog

Architecture of High Museum of Art

The museum, which opened in the early 1980s, was designed by Richard Meier, who won the 1984 Laureate of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. The site plan and building alignment welcome the public and pull guests deeper into the site, which is stretched on a gentle hill where they can be surrounded by art.

Unique work of art

The sculptural design of the museum’s exterior forms a distinctive work of art that appropriately houses other works of art. The famous architect used his signature elements of white metal panels, glass and concrete to carve an architectural form that integrates multiple symmetrical combinations, creating a lively design that becomes a tribute to the art it houses.

Exterior of the building

The four-sided towers that house the art and vertical circulation are arranged on the facade to help define a hierarchy of spaces and break down what would otherwise have become an impressive mass on the site. These rectangular forms are hauled away from the access to expose the tube-shaped heart of the museum, which is fully glazed to provide public views into the core of the structure.

Interior of the building

The unique design of the interior is like an engaged tour of how the museum should be experienced. The architect introduces free-form curves to house free flowing areas of interior circulation, and he uses a strong diagonal entry ramp to frame the guest’s vision firmly toward the center of the museum’s interior atrium.

The grand atrium is the most amazing element of this building’s design. The atrium, which is decorated by its incorporation of natural lighting, the volume of space, and connectivity, creates a design where guests come to bond, study, rejoice and dream. You feel like the building is covering its arms around you and alluring you to come in, stay a while, see more, dream more, and come back again.
